David works alongside Christine Renee Miller, an actor, director and creative producer who guides expression, posture, wardrobe details, and the pace of each session. Both are in the room for every session, so the direction and camera work stay in sync throughout.
Individual sessions take place at Redline Studios, 181 Broadway in the Financial District, by appointment. David and Christine also bring a full studio setup to offices and locations throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the wider New York City area.
Whether the photographs are intended for LinkedIn, a company website, casting submissions, media use, or a wider brand library, each session begins with a clear understanding of how the images will be used and how the person or organization wants to be presented.

Associate Member of Headshots Matter
I'm David. I grew up outside London and have been in New York for twenty years! Which I think makes me an official New Yorker?
Before photography, I worked in IT in the finance sector, so the rooms I photograph in now- law firms, finance and tech offices- are rooms I already knew from the other side of the desk. I've been photographing people since the 2000s, coming out of street photography and portrait work, with prints shown at galleries including Saatchi. Since then, the work has run from New York to Los Angeles and London, for clients including JP Morgan, Bank of America, Freshfields, Bristol Myers Squibb, Amtrak and Taboola, and editorially for The New Yorker.
I shoot digital for clients and film for myself, and have a silly amount of cameras. My own fine artwork sits separately at davidpexton.art.
The best part of this is the person who arrives apologizing for being bad at posing for photos and leaves with something they actually love. My wife and business partner, Christine Renee Miller, is an actor, director, and screenwriter with an MFA and credits in film, television, and commercials, and we are both in the room for every session.

A Few Things Clients Ask David
What's your process?
We start with a call to understand the brief: who we're photographing, what the images are for, and the style you're after. On the day we come to your office or chosen location with a full studio setup, lights, stands and a background if needed. Christine directs and coaches throughout while David works the camera and the lighting. We shoot tethered so you can see the images as they come in.
How long does a session take?
It depends on the job. We aim for at least 15 minutes per person to get someone relaxed and looking like themselves. On larger team days we can work to 10 minutes per person. Fuller sessions run up to an hour per person where there's time for hair and makeup, an environmental portrait and a backdrop headshot. We agree the timing in advance.
Do you bring hair and makeup?
We work with one or two trusted hair and makeup artists who know how we shoot, coordinated by us and available on request for any session. On larger team days we also bring a digital tech and an assistant. Smaller sessions are just David and Christine. Crew is scoped and priced in advance so there are no surprises.
How often should I update my headshot?
Every two to three years as a general rule, or sooner after a significant change in role or appearance. A headshot that carries the wrong seniority signal for your current role is worth replacing.
Can I use my headshots for multiple purposes?
Yes. LinkedIn, company websites, press releases, annual reports, speaker profiles and internal communications, delivered in portrait, landscape and square crops as needed. Two retouched images are included as standard, with additional selections at $50 each. Advertising and paid media use is arranged separately.
