About Headshots Matter
Headshots Matter is a Canadian-founded, globally connected community for photographers who specialize in LinkedIn portraits, corporate headshots, actor headshots, and personal branding photography.
We bring together emerging and experienced photographers who want to get seen more clearly, connect with peers, and find new opportunities in their work. Whether you photograph leadership teams, performers, entrepreneurs, or local businesses, there is a place for you in the HSM community.
From the beginning, Headshots Matter was intended to be more than a directory or training program. Our work is guided by three principles: Creative Freedom, Continuous Learning, and Collaborative Support.
These principles shape how we support members—through practical marketing ideas, thoughtful visibility, conversations with peers, and a global network that understands the work. We want photographers to develop their own voice, build stronger businesses, and stay connected as search, technology, and client needs change.
Community can create opportunity in many ways: a stronger local presence, a useful referral, a shared idea, a new collaboration, or simply knowing there are people to ask when the work becomes difficult.
Today, Headshots Matter includes more than 200 photographers in over 150 cities worldwide—from New York to Tokyo, London to Sydney, Berlin to Vancouver, and Lagos to Montreal.

Our mission at Headshots Matter is to empower headshot photographers to become their best creative selves through continuous learning, collaborative support and creative freedom.
Our Core Principles
Creative Freedom: At Headshots Matter, we empower photographers to express their unique style and vision to meet the needs of their clients. We believe that headshot photography isn't a one-size-fits-all 'look and feel'—people are unique, and we believe their portraits should reflect that, too. We encourage our members to experiment, innovate, and evolve their craft by pushing boundaries and growing to become their best creative selves.
Continuous Learning: In the constantly shifting landscapes of photography and business, staying ahead means embracing continuous learning. We provide access to knowledge and skills development through peer mentorship, coaching, and the open exchange of ideas within our community.
Collaborative Support: Headshots Matter's strength comes from our community's willingness to share knowledge, resources, and skills. Our collaborative culture is made possible because of open feedback and collective problem-solving among our members. It's all about supporting one another and recognizing that we succeed together as a community.
