I’m Randy Lawrence, founder and creative director of Commercial Image, based in Washington, DC, and serving clients throughout the DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia region. I’ve spent years photographing people for businesses, organizations, and professional brands, focusing on creating headshots that feel polished, confident, and approachable. My clients range from individuals updating their professional image to corporate teams, associations, and organizations that need consistent headshots across an entire staff.

My approach is simple: most people aren’t professional models and shouldn’t be expected to know what to do in front of a camera. I guide clients through expression, positioning, and small adjustments throughout the session so they can relax and look like the best version of themselves. I offer individual headshot sessions as well as on-location headshot experiences for companies, conferences, and events.

For larger organizations, I can also create a consistent visual style that can be repeated as teams grow or new employees are added. Whether I’m photographing one person or hundreds, the goal is the same: create a professional headshot that feels natural, confident, and genuinely represents the person in front of the camera.

I’m not comfortable in front of the camera. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Most people Randy photographs are not used to being professionally photographed. He keeps the session relaxed and conversational while giving clear direction on positioning, expression and small adjustments throughout the shoot. You never have to wonder what to do in front of the camera.
