My name is Tia Haygood, and I’m the photographer behind TOPTIA Photography. I’m an English-speaking editorial portrait and headshot photographer based in Tokyo, with studio spaces in Nakano and Kawaguchi.
I work with internationally minded women, executives, actors, creatives and professionals. Through careful planning, conversation and clear direction, I help people—especially those who feel camera-shy—become more comfortable in front of the camera.
My work also includes personal projects such as Obama Rain and The Kintsugi Reclamation Portrait Series. These projects explore repair, resilience, self-worth and the stories people carry with them.
Whether I’m photographing an executive, performer, business owner or woman in leadership, my aim is to create portraits that feel considered, respectful and full of presence.

What kinds of headshots and portraits do you offer?
I photograph executives, business owners, actors, models and working professionals. Sessions can include professional headshots, LinkedIn portraits, personal branding photography, actor headshots, editorial portraits and team photography.
Where are your studios located?
TOPTIA Photography has two studio spaces—one in Nakano, Tokyo and another in Kawaguchi, Saitama. We work with clients throughout the Kanto region and can travel elsewhere in Japan for company and team sessions.
Are sessions available in English?
Yes. I’m an American photographer based in Japan, and sessions are available in English. I regularly work with international residents, visiting professionals and companies with multilingual teams.
How long does an individual session take?
A standard individual session can last up to 90 minutes. Hair and make-up support is also available and can be arranged before the photography begins.
Do you photograph company teams?
Yes. Teams can visit one of our studios, or we can bring a professional setup to your office. Depending on the company’s needs, individual headshots generally take between five and twenty minutes per person.
What if I’m uncomfortable in front of the camera?
Many of my clients begin their sessions feeling unsure. I’ll guide you through positioning and expression while giving you time to settle in. You do not need to arrive knowing what to do—that guidance is part of the session.
