Quentin Houdas is a Paris-based portrait photographer and Headshots Matter Associate Member, widely sought after for his editorial portrait work. 1. What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Marveling at the subtle things in life, knowing how to be content with little, and perceiving the beauty of the world. The satisfaction of a job well done.
2. What is your greatest fear or challenge?
The misery of war, the passing of time, and the loss of loved ones. I'm also very afraid of flying.
3. What trait do you most value in yourself?
My sensitivity, my curiosity.
4. What is the trait that you most value in others?
Empathy, mental sharpness.
5. Which living person do you most admire?
I have neither God nor master. I admire poets and scientists.
6. What is your greatest extravagance?
You wouldn't want to know.
7. What is your current state of mind?
I am peaceful and enthusiastic.
8. What do you consider to be the most underrated virtue?: Curiosity and kindness.
9. On what occasion do you break the rules?: I believe that during a photo shoot, certain conventions need to be shifted and readjusted in order to create an interesting situation. More broadly speaking, any artistic endeavor involves circumventing the rules, or at the very least, questioning them.
10. What do you most like about your life?
My independence, and on another note, my son.
11. What quality do you most enjoy in someone you work with?
Passion, the desire to learn.
12. Which words, phrases, or gestures do you most overuse?
I would be rude if I answered honestly.
13. What or who is the greatest love of your life?
Arts and my child.
14. When and where are you happiest?
During photo shoots, I take immense pleasure in working. On the other hand, I really enjoy solitude.
15. Which talent would you most like to have?
I wish I knew how to play music.
16. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I would have enjoyed my youth more by taking more risks in many areas.
17. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
I don't know yet.
18. Where would you most like to live?
Surrounded by nature, far from the hustle and bustle of the city.
19. What is your most treasured possession?
The love of my loved ones.
20. What is your favourite way to spend your time?
Going to the museum, taking long walks, cooking.
21. Who are your heroes in real life?
I don't have any heroes; I distrust all authority figures.
22. What is your ultimate dealbreaker?
I find it very difficult to accept dishonesty.
23. What is your greatest regret?
Putting too many barriers in my way.
24. What has been your favourite journey?
Two weeks of discoveries in the United States; sumptuous landscapes, striking contrasts.
25. What kind of legacy would you like to leave?
I have loved, helped, and respected others. I have cared for the world around me and have left it unspoiled.
